Default Insurance at 48

Just had my renewal (£595), and its gone up not sure yet why, all the comparison sites were more than the renewal so I must be missing a trick. May be the Oldham postcode, but at my age and full everything you would hope it was getting easier.

This is depressing when you think I have a standard wagon, no mods and will be 49 at Christmas, there is no god.

Currently set to 3000 mikes, I get on the train every day, will move it to 12k soon but the quote reflects the current 3000 miles

Unfortunately it might be your postcode that's bumping it up, but TBH £595 isn't that expensive anyway nowadays.

If you're getting quotes based on 3000 miles but are thinking of increasing to 12000 make the insurers know from the start, as several will refuse to cover you doing that many miles, so be careful.

Well if I can't use it to get to work, its time to get rid of it. I will be declaring the 12000 miles from the outset, not much use having the car and not drive it though, sad day

Insurance is expensive nowadays but £595 for a standard wagon and a man of your age seems crazy. I pay £595 with moley, 29 with all mods declared fully comp and mileage of 3K. Oh, and that's without any bonus as that's on my other car.

Well Matty the quote is with Moley on my renewal, so I will have to discuss it with him Monday, does seem high in comparison unless the Oldham postcode is killing me each year but if so I am going to be stung time and time again. Thank god its not a Bradford postcode almost uninsurable.

Well I will not be moving in the short term, so will have to live with it. Will catch up with Moley on Monday and sort it out, thanks for all your comments just seems a little unfair.

Like i said earler, £595 isn't really 'that' bad even it was in a lower rated postcode.
There are 40 year olds in Surrey/Sussex postcodes paying similar.

Agreed Moley, bit of a shock though, thought there were some pluses for getting older. Hope the 12k mileage uplift doesn't prove too painful, as I would rather keep it than end up in an Astra diesel
