Default The joys of powdercoating

had my inlet powdercoated last week as well as my fmic pipes
quick pic of it fitted

what a nightmare!!!!

put everything together and fired her up to have her die on me, now hesitates to start and once started when you try revving it,it misses the rev until around 4k rpm and when drops back down cuts out for it to not start again

cut the long story short and not to bore you to much
turns out when i got inlet powdercoated, they didnt blank the throttle or anything
so now to this point you may be able to guess the outcome lol
sand in the inlet leading to a disastrous low compression in each cylinder
50 50 70 and 90 lol

not an ideal time when it was ready for my next map and was hoping for around 450+

so people when you have youre inlet powdercoated make sure it gets blanked properly and give it a thorough wash

not sure if its user responsibility but i wouldve thought any company would make sure its covered especially inlets
i did point out to him make sure the injector seats are masked and a earth at the back
i had to scrape the powder coat off where the 4 bolts go for the centre coil lol

Really bad luck...

But before putting anything powdercoated on the car you should use air gun/compressor or at least check if inside of the powdercoated part if is not/or is it there any sand from Powdercoating

Hope you get sorted there and good luck

I have checked for sand but can't see or feel any (probably all in the cylinders)
I'm going to take engine out and send the heads for vac leak check
I filled the cylinders with wd40 last night turned engine over and checked oil today and no signs of any wd40 mixed with oil

Was hoping a quick valve regrind and seat would be a quick easy fix or am I kidding my self?
Any recommendations or experience with this sort of stuff?
