For starters you need to be sure it's a proper original STI as the very first STI are quite rare now.
On this model the usual applied model code found on the vin plate won't help you as the wrx and STI shared the same number.
The original STI was released in October 93 and ran until September 1994. It had just 250PS which is around 245bhp, 10 more than the WRX of the same year.
I would say, if its a genuine first gen STI in nice condition, low/average miles and modified correctly (very important) then yes, I'd go with the swap.
Remember it's an old car so be sure to check everything carefully. Get right underneath it and poke about paying particular attention to the rear arches and sills. Would be a bonus if the original high spoiler (very high) and original split rims are still on it.
