Yesterday i went on a drive to pick up my new alloys! the whole trip was 157 miles i filled up the car when i left using tesco 99 and filled up on way back same tesco same fuel, after 157 miles the car took £21 :O that equals almost 50mpg i was greatly shocked that a car like that had achived them figures, obviously i was driving in 6th at 60mph the whole way

just happy i made £10 of my dad told me wont be doable for under £40 :P

so you'r saying you filled up when you left,
filled up on way back,
filled up after 157 miles.
that's three times,
£21 each way would be more like it

Think you need to do your math again.

How many times did you fill the car up ??

what i did was, fill up at my tesco station 5 mile down the road, drove to my destination, then drove back stopped in that tesco to refill the tank and it only took £21 to brim again,

this how i work out what i got, the receipt says 14.94litre @ 142.9 p/l costing £21.35

go on a website called metric conversion, type 14.94L into gallons come back with 3UK gallons

divide 3gallons into 157 miles thats how i work out the mpg i got, but what ever it is £21 to cover that many miles is bloody good imo, what you have to remember is 70 miles each way of that journey was on 1 road sat at 60ish in 6th gear car is sitting at 2100k revs

Not a chance. I've done 135mile to half a tank (£35) this week and i've not driven on boost lol. I drove to newquay from crewe (300mile) and i drove at 60-70mph all the way using moterways and i averaged 25mpg when i refilled lol

Think I touched 30mpg once. I was being a very good boy.
50mpg? Sorry I don't think that is physically possible in a Subaru without switching off at every opportunity.

14.94 litres is equal to 3.2863 UK Gallons (not 3 UK gallons) therefore that is actually 47.77 mpg which is still hard to believe.

When I bought my WRX from Southampton I brimmed the tank, drove back to Ludlow and brimmed the tank again. I got just over 36mpg over ~160 miles. Most of the journey was motorway and good A roads traveling at 70mph most of the time. I wasn't accelerating hard, but I wasn't trying to save fuel either. I was just going with the flow.

Since then I've had ~30mpg on 30-40 mile journeys and anywhere between 25-29 mpg combined.

Maybe you could see 40mpg plus if you drove really carefully on a long journey, but I bet it would be dull!??
