02 sti 6 speed clutch/gearbox oil renew.
Hi all,
as i write this, im having a new clutch fitted to my 02 sti (excedy supplied by Aztec racing ) iv asked the garage to renew the gearbox oil, hopefully they will know what type to use , so my question is what will happen if then put normal sae 75w90 as opposed to semi or fully synthetic, or is the normal sae 75w90 good enough??
regards

Unless you specify or supply your own oil, they'll probably put a semi-synthetic 75/90 in it, possibly trade quality. Being what we are, we tend to be a bit more fussy what goes in than the average bloke who probably has no idea about oils/fluids. Phone them and tell them to put a quality oil in eg Castrol Driveline or similar. Also remind them that there are two drain plugs for the 6 speed box (they should suss this out when the box comes out?) - one under the front diff and one in a small sump under the gearbox itself.
