I fitted and six speed conversion to my classic last year and it's been great but last night I recieved my new gear **** through the post and fitted it after I finnished work. At 5am this morning I got in to the car to reverse it off the drive and it would lift properly. I straight away assumed its the new **** so I removed it and fitted the standard oem item back on but still no reverse it does seem the lift up but will not drop into the gear can someone help me please it's always worked 100% until this morning

sounds most likley that you have disturbed the pull cable that engages the "lift" reverse on the 6spd linkage.........

Have you tried selecting reverse without the gear **** in place??

Side of the gearbox at the rear look for the reverse interlock lever it's supposed to sit mid way and you install a small pin to hold it while you adjust the cable to the correct place. You might have disturbed something when changing the gearknob over but that's just a guess

Found the problem I've pushed down some sort of rubber sleeve and the pull up mech couldn't pass it sorted it now and all is good
