Realistic Valuation
Hi all
Due to wishing to change the company vehicle from an Impreza to a Astravan or VW Caddy (I know but needs must; those of you in business will understand), I've decided to sell the Scooby.
I just need to get a realistic sale price estimate from you all if you don't mind.
The car is a 2004 WRX in Black (gold fleck as standard) in excellent condition (68K on the clock/new engine at 66K/lots of history) with no deep scratches or dents, 9 months MOT and 8 months Tax, with the following mods:
- Turbo back Magnex full stainless system with rolled 3" outlet (sounds bloody awesome but not overly loud, just deep - cost £700 from Scooby Clinic)
- STi intercooler
- STi Bonnet scoop
- Zero sports intercooler splitter
- Zero sports triple gauge pod (best on the market IMO) with Apexi EL Series 2 gauges for Oil pressure, Oil Temp and Boost)
- Pioneer AVIC HD3 Head unit (SAT NAV/Bluetooth/DVD Player/MP3 (Hard Drive)) with sound proof matting applied to front doors and £120 speakers (cant remember the brand) fitted. I also have some 6x9's brand new, mdf, foam and fabric ready to go onto the rear shelf.
- Pioneer AMP bolted to a piece of MDF applied to the back of the seats with all oxygen free cabling running and RCA leads
- Rebuilt engine by Ashley at Wilks Garages with only 2,000 miles on the clock (oil and filter being changed again today)
- New Exedy Clutch
Think that's it guys, its a great car and I have sat at home new Headers from Harvey (cost £369.99 new), a IHI VF22 turbo and pink STi injectors which I could throw in with it.
What do you think it's worth? It'd be a great foundation for someone.....
Looking to put up for sale within the next week or so....

Messed about with, so not worth what a standard car is worth.
How many Owners? One = good ..... more than 4 = bad.
I should say £2750 is a possibility ... not sure if there is a market these days?

Thanks guys....a mixed opinion as anticipated.
I paid £4k last year with 60k on the clock and searched high and low for a good example. £4k at the time was cheap, from all that were on offer anyway.
If it really isnt worth anymore, or even worse, worth less with the mods, they'll be coming off and sold separately. I would like to think that for a good car, with a very low mileage engine, that it'd fetch £4-4.5k.
If I really can only get £2.75k, then it isn't being sold and will be kept for a weekend car; it's far too mint an example for that silly money.
Like anything in this world, it's worth what someone is willing to pay. With so many thrashed and abused scoobies out there, mine has to be a wise investment in terms of Subaru ownership.
I think I'll start looking through Autotrader and piston heads for an estimate also....
Thanks again for your comments....more are welcome....

Forgot to mention its got a top of the range Clifford alarm/immobiliser and a tracker fitted....
I'm browsing through Autotrader and the closest comparative in black with similar miles is £4k......and that with no mods. Again they can be removed but it is no way worth as little as £2.75k.....! Poolio and jamo are closer.....
Even if I sell the car for £3.5k which is cheap with a new engine, all the upgrades would fetch me another £600 at least, in fact hang on....
Exhaust - £3-400
Gauges with pod - £250-300
Inter cooler - £150
Scoop with standard undertray - £120
Avic HD3 with amp, speakers, wiring - £350
Zero sports splitter - £80-100
Turbo - £220-250
Injectors - £100-120
Ported headers - £250
Updated fuel pump - £60
That little lot totals £2k!.....Even if some prices are high, we're still no way near £2.75k.....

I sold a one owner, genuine, clean, quality, standard classic 2 years ago for a little over £3,000. That would make a 2002 version of my car around £3,000 - but, the market has fallen through the floor.
Which is why I priced yours at £2,750 ...... ask £3,000.
Of course, if it is a two owner mint example then you can ask £3,500 and hold as firm as you can (depending upon the interest in it).

eBay always seems to be cheap as its a good avenue to sell your car if you're in a rush.....
Autotrader seems to have the middle of the price ranges......
And then Pistonheads generally in my experience tends to be slightly overpriced....
We'll see how it goes.....again at £3k, it isn't going anywhere....

Well it'll go up for £4.5k to start with and I'll let you know how bad/good the market is. I've always purchased cars through Autotrader, not EBay, and gauged my prices on there. I'm sure someone will appreciate having a rebuilt engine with new clutch.

I would put it up for 4k and see what happens for a couple of weeks, I wouldnt want to give it away after spending on a rebuild & new clutch recently!
The performance market seems to be getting worse, its amazing what you can get for 5k nowadays, Honda 2000, Evo 6's etc.
Good Luck.
