Default Painting Brake Calipers

Thinking of tidying up a couple of last outstanding bits on my car and considering painting the brake Calipers.

I know loads and loads of people have done it, seen some good and some bad, same with everything, just wondering what anyone's thoughts are?

Colour?
Type of paint?
Aerosol or brush on?
Finish?
And where did anyone get anything decent?

Cars got to come off the road for a clutch anyway so was thinking of doing everything at the same time.

Any thoughts anyone

Hi there buddy. There's a member of NESF (North East Subaru Forum) who has done quite a few for the Subaru members up here is the North East. From all accounts he does a cracking job of them from feedback he gets. Might be worth logging on there and dropping him a PM for advice. His username is Trev85 and his post on the subject is here: http://nesf.forumotion.co.uk/t11793-... colour change

There is even a photo of one of the lads he done in PINK!!

Hope this helps

has anyone tried aerosol on Brembos while still fitted to car ? Would love to just mask off everything that doesnt get painted and spray away. I am not mechanicaly inclined with things like that (if something goes wrong i cant go anywhere with no brakes).

Cheers, I've just been out to the shed to see if i still have the can but i threw it away afterwards so I'm not sure on what make it was sorry..

A lot of people seem to use Hammerite smooth brush on paint, i did do some calipers a while back with that but i preferred the spray on as it seemed to cover better.

Couldn't make up my mind to use aerosol or brush on, does seem to get a better finish with the aerosol but not seen enough of the brush on stuff.

They are gonna be stripped so I'm now edging towards aerosol

I've always used Hammerite smooth, two coats at about 45 minute intervals.

Leaves no brush marks, dries very shiny and needs VERY little prep.

But you DO need a tin of Hammerite thinners to clean the brushes, nowt else will touch it. Says a lot for the paint, really.
