Question Walbro or HRC ??

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of buying bits to take my sti wagon to the next level modding
( Fmic,FPR,CAIK ) but now looking at both Walbro and HRC 255 fuel pumps
What, if any, are there any pro's or con's with either.

Car is on standard 440 injectors,vf28 but has a full 3" decat and kn induction kit plus not looking for a massive power gain with the EcuTek mapping just a nice increase!

Thanks in advance

Neil

HRC for me, there customer after care is fantastic.
I had a small issue with one of their 255's, it was rectified and upgraded for free in a matter of days.
HRC is cheaper and offer a 2 year warranty also.

Both are good pumps and will do what you need but if you choose walbro be sure to buy from a reputable dealer as there are sooooo many fakes around.

HRC is a modified Walbro I believe Neil; running an HRC on mine, and as above, a bit quieter than a Walbro.
Had a Walbro 255 on my old blue one with no issues.
The guys at HRC recommended me the 290 because it was a more robust design than their 255 and it was only about £10 more so went for it, but a 255 should be fine for yours if you're sticking with the 5 speed and turbo you were thinking of

I bought a hrc pump after reading nothing but good things about them. I opted for the biggest in tank they did and added a uprated power cable (direct to battery) and used the ignition feed to trigger a relay to switch for feed. This was go allow bigger power in future. All seemed very well made and would recommend hrc.

Might be a silly Question but does a larger pump use more fuel, with the same injectors and same driving style, would I use more than the oem pump? I have an oem one in mine so must be 12years old. Does it make much difference with Cira 280-300bhp cars

I have an HRC 290 on mine and it seems to use the same amount as the OEM pump did before I modded it and had it mapped.
I certainly haven't noticed a change to the consumption.

It'll just mean its pumping more around the system so more is available for the injectors, fuel which isn't used by the injectors is recirculated back to the fuel tank.

eBay, £50.

Just type in HRC fuel pump into search bar and it'll come up. Company name is HRC performance.

What would you say to their FPR kit as well? Is this up to the standards of other FPRs?

We are running HRC 340lph on our wagon,to the date without the problem.

About the HRC FPR Kit can't comment, but if is good as their fuel pumps, should be OK

I've just had a Walbro 255 fitted and I can't hear it as any louder than my old OEM one?

I'd been told that it would be louder than my OEM, but I can't hear it... Ok, I have a full decat 3" system so it's not a quiet car, but it's not loud either compared to some.

Is the issue with Walbros that after a while they become noisy or are they meant to be noisier as soon as you fit them? Maybe it's the fake Walbros that are noisier? Mine is from Lateral Performance so happy it's genuine.

Nothing about fake ones mate.
Good example is when you're about to fire the car up.
The OEM pumps are pretty quiet, and the HRC ones too.
The Walbro makes quite a noise when it primes.
When the cars running I don't hear much either lol

I must be going deaf, can't hear mine prime any louder than the OEM one. Strange, but not complaining...

My Walbro 255 has recently gone kaput, was fitted by previous owner so cannot vouch for its age / authenticity. Just changed it today for a nearly new Spec C one I had lying around.

See post No 330 below for details:
