what mods are on the car? and why did you have a new ecu? sounds like boost cut or could be maf/coilpack/fuel related so pulling the codes and giving some details on the ecu swap/mods will help us point you the right way chap.

hi lads no not checked yet im trying to get hold of someone with a code reader and the reason for changing the ecu was because the old one was because when i came to starting it up in the morning it struggled to start and at that point i had an induction kit on so i took it to carnetix in melton mowbary she said to me im better with a panel filter so i changed from induction kit to standard air box with green cotten panel filter and a new maf sensor, they tried to do a code test on the ecu i was running and they said it was an austrailian map and jgm couldnt tweek it so they puy me a new ecu in standard then the car was fine, since havin the new ecu my car idles just over 7k rpm sound really low tel ya the truth en the mods i have is afterburner vortex back box and and centre section and the cotton filter thats it
the old ecu just says J2 22611 AF041 A18 000 DOZ UNISIA JECS CORPORATION JAPAN thats all i can tel ya lads and this map was running 1.3 bar

So the ECU in your car now hasn't been mapped to suit your car.

7K rpm on idle, guess you mean 700.

You don't need a code reader. Look at the link I posted again.

You don't need to go near the ecu.

Read the info in the link. It's says about putting the two black plugs together etc etc.

Reading ECU Error codes
Turn OFF the ignition

Connect Error code Connectors :
2 black connectors under dash, connect black to black, they are by your left knee when sat in the drivers seat and often taped back to the loom if they haven't been used before.

Turn ON ignition but don't start the engine

Engine Check lamp comes on flashing either once per second (OK code) or an error code

Error Codes

An Error code is defined as a slow flash followed by fast flash
i.e 2 slow and 3 fast = 23 Mass Airflow sensor.
A continuous on/off at the same speed is no fault found.

A standard ecu running all those mods sounds like a dangerous combination to me, especially if you've taken the original ecu out.

If your original one has been mapped then it would have been via ECUtek so would have a £150 license on it. Personally, i would have done what you did and put the airbox back on and a new maf then got the map checked/tweaked.
