It is a 92-94my Legacy Turbo (Liberty RS to you) engine.
It has the water/air intercooler which is a dead giveaway. It also has hydraulic lifters (renowned for being a bit rattly!)
I had one of these cars in the UK, it was an identical engine, but without the cosmetic engine cover lid thingy.
This engine was virtually identical to the first Impreza turbo engines fitted into UK cars from 94 on - the only difference was air/air intercooler rather than water, and 14psi boost instead of 12 on the Legacy.

You need the intercooler water pump assy if you are ging to use the intercooler, this was fitted inside the LH front wing liner and the intercooler radiator.
One of the guy's on this board has actually converted his Impreza to use this intercooler system, as it is more efficient than air/air but more expensive, probably why Subaru dropped it.
