It's hard to explain tbh it's there when your driving along 10mph + it's like a whurring/rumbling noise I've depressed the clutch when driving along the noise is still there!!
It's also like when the pads are rubbing the discs sort of noise too only way I can describe it tbh

sorry for the long delay ive been on u **** all day lol
took the scooby out again today
depressed clutch pedal noise still there so that rules out clutch/gearbox ?
when pressing the accelerator noise dosnt go away and coming of the accelerator noise is still there so that would rule out diff?
Noise dosnt go away when brakes applied so that would rule out pads?
The noise sounds like it coming from N/S/F more than the O/S/F so could be possible wheel bearing
what the best way to jack the car up to check the wheel bearing,do i have to have all 4 wheels jacked up? will they still turn if i jack up just the front?
car is on 71000 miles full subaru history
are the wheel bearings easy to change?
any help/ideas would be great

Very difficult to check for worn bearings due to the 4 wheel drive. You can't just jack it up and spin the wheels and feeling for play by rocking the wheels is not always conclusive. Unfortunately, it's quite involved to change the bearings. Having all four wheels off the ground and 'driving' the car may allow an experienced ear to confirm noise. If one has gone there's a chance more will follow. At 71k it's fairly likely!

A worn bearing would be a whirring/whining noise, quiet at low speeds but increasing in pitch as the car speeds up. On my first classic, when I turned left it sounded as if it was coming from the right hand side. I had this noise for over a year and because I'd been lazy and left it so long I needed the wheel hub replacing too so It cost a fair bit in the end.

Just because it doesnt go away when the brakes are used doesnt mean its not pads. There is a small piece of steel on the pads that is designed to rub on the discs and make a noise to warn the pads are just about worn out. This is to save the pads going all the way to metal and scoring the discs. Im not saying there definatly worn out. But dont dismiss the just because the noise is still there during braking
