Default Ap Racing 6 pots

Hello. As above. Any advice on whether standard sti alloys,5 x114 will fit over these calipers? Currently have 18" Speedline Turini's. Would like a set for winter use. Thanks in advance.

yes i have just bought some ap 6 pots and they are slimmer than the current brembos.
the kit i have is the larger 355mm disc and you need 18s to clear them.
my wheels are prodrive pf7s

Indeed......must be down to production quantities(355-362mms rotors are probably used for bigger number of cars) nothing else seems logical to me

its to do with the fact that the 355 kits use a road bioased production caliper rather than the more expensive competition variants found in the 330 kits..........

If you scroll down on the link Tubs it says 'race spec' calipers for the smaller kit.

Thats big money though, you can get the Porsche kit for less money.

But why would you want the Porsche kit and logo on an impreza looks poop in my view. A nice big set of AP's or Alcon's looks much better. Would like to think the AP's would be better to

and the fact the Porshe kit doesn't fit prefectly as std IMO
you need modified pads and the actual shape is silly money in the first place

the only disadvantage of the 330 kit as std is the pad shape is a race caliper version and whilst not as expensive as the Porshe kit it is more than the 355 type caliper version, however the downside of the 7040 caliper used in the 7040 kit is again you generally need to modify the pads slightly if you want more extreme materials....

After driving impreza's with both the larger road biased 355mm and motor sport biased 330mm I would go with the latter as they stop better imo.
Mind I wouldn't mind either though lol,AP's rule in the brakes department!

No buddy, the Porsche kit consists of brembo calipers and AP discs.

My understanding is the brembo's in this kit are machined from one piece of metal compared to two halves bolted together for the AP's. Being one piece it reduces the risk of flex in the caliper. Not that any of us would put them under that much stress on the road though, lol.

Think we are splitting hairs though, either caliper is bloody awesome and being priced so similar it really comes down to personal choice. I like the look of the porsche caliper over the AP which is why they are on my car.

Do the AP calipers have ceramic pistons out of interest ?
