Default JDM wrx

Hi guys,

A friend of mine is thinking of getting an impreza and is looking at a jdm bug wrx, What are the differences between uk and jdm wrx's is it true they run variable valve timing like sti's? and do they have forged internals?

Cheers guys

JDM WRX has been equipped as UK WRX with TD04 and has been only single scroll

Spec C V7 has been too single scroll, from v8(blobeye) has been Spec C and STi twin scroll

Think jdm wrx also has useless sliding caliper front brakes, worth fitting 4 pots at least

I've seen JDM bugeyes with 2pots with sliding calipers. I have also seen JDM WRXs with different front headlights which have HIDs, or at least projectors. AVCS they have indeed, standard I think they have the old 16" classic wheels?

As above 16" models should have sliding 2 pots, but i've seen too JDM WRX with OE 4pots like I've seen JDM STi with OE 4pots

They also came with 250 bhp as standard, rear wiper and a better general spec. Not sure if the TD04 was used though.

Must check.

From the top of my head.

JDM / UK

Compression ratio 9.0:1 / 8.0:1
250ps / 218ps
333nm / 292nm
AVCS / No AVCS
TD04 / TD04
Gear ratios (3.166, 1.882, 1.296, 0.972, 0.738) / (3.454, 1.947, 1.366, 0.972, 0.738) OK i did not actually memorize these
Final Drive 4.444 / 3.900
180km/h Speedo / 260km/h Speedo
Rear wiper / No rear wiper
4 pot front 2 pot rear / 4 pot front 2 pot rear

All makes for a much livelier drive.

I think the jdm td04 is a different spec as well, sure I read on another site where they were being fitted to us market cars.
