I did a thread like this............ But offered a v.3/4 Samco intake hose as a prize!

You best offer a set of brand new PFR7Bs as 'your' prize....

I'm gonna wish you all the luck, by plumping for your much-wanted 400+ wish: 401 bhp / 372 lb ft...... Then followed by the inevitable 'box blow-up soon thereafter.

im replaceing the box with a very low mileage ty754vb1ca dccd box, should be fine imo.it will get treated nice.so we dont need to go down the "your gearbox will blow up" route.

yeah mattyb1983 is also running a 754 p1 box at over 400bhp and all is well.i wanted to keep the shorter ratios with the 5 speed box so ive opted for the strongest 5 speed out there, removed from a mint low mileage v6 sti type r/ra.

i would have thought that torque would only be 340-360,this is what seems to **** the boxes when there is a very high amount of torque, not just high bhp.

If you get 370+ bhp (you obviously should do), then with those mental ratios, you'll bloody love it!

Hell, I do - and I've obviously not even got those ultra short ratios!

Yeah, you should get anywhere between 350 and 370 lb ft I'd wager.

tbh joz,id be dissapointed if it only made that, having said that it would still be ballisticly quick, but this particular billet 20g made 414bhp on a 2.1 stroker non avcs,v power only,it then made 452bhp with 20% meth mix..

Yeah, I was saying 370 bhp as a projected worst case scenario.

But even at 370, you'd still love it - anything above that, a bonus, as regards the 'feel'! (Which you should get, obviously).

yep,im not sure wether the afp billet 20g will make more power than a standard 20g,i know they are supposed to dramitically improve spool up along with the harvey set-up should be very quick spooling, but ive not heard/read any comparison tests between the two,im sure mr forrest would know.

yes,ill update once ive had it mapped, there dosent seem to much on here about the afp billet 20g,i cant seem to find any dyno graphs or much info at all on it, jay mA was the original owner of this turbo and he made over 400 on a non avcs 2.1 stroker with just v power,.so im wondering how much diference there would be.

I'll go for 377/368 but wish you well and hope you see the 4's

Not wishing to hijack but i'm also due a map soon so would be interested in peoples thoughts on what mine will be

V6 WRC Type R
Standard Sti Top mount
VF43 Turbo
De-cat Blitz Nur Spec R 3"
Walbro
440's
Standard airbox and green filter
PFR7b's
Standard headers and up-pipe
Map will be on 97 as theres no Vpower round here

I know the VF43 is rated to 350bhp+ but i'm hoping to see 330/330 based on the turbo and not maxing everything out. Should be one hell of a road car at that level

i would have thought somewhere in the region of 320-330,due to your topmount and 97 ron fuel.

yep,i know what you mean,im sure the car will perform as expected, just wondering if there are any users that have had this turbo/similar spec.
just to give a closer idea of what to expect on the dyno.one things for sure it should spool well even on my little 2ltr.

Hi there

I would say 370-390bhp is possible on your spec and about the spool, should spool well with Harvey headers and Up pipe

And as jayallen don't chase the numbers.

Good luck matey and looking forward to RR results

Chasing figures (obviously within an expected bracket of expectation of the turbo/mods fitted) is the ultimate expression in self-confirmation 'vanity'. We're all guilty of it.

I say this, 'cause it can affect whether you 'enjoy' the new found power or not... The attained power figure can be a Placebo - either negatively or positively. I.e. if you 'only' made 370, then you would prob 'convince' yourself that it doesn't feel powerful enough. Whereas if it made a healthy 390+ or so, you'd be self-satisfied and that inner feeling can project on your perception of the way the car performs i.e. you'd invariably 'think' it was real fast, etc.

What I'm saying is, the attained 'objective' power figure can, and no doubt will, affect your subjective take on the way it feels.

As jay and jura say, simply TRY not to get hung up on an intangible 'number'. Lest not forget, the difference between 370 and 400 is just 7.5%.

very well put joz.
i think it will perform very well as a road car,its lightweigh and should spool quicky so acceleration from 0-100mph should be nippy.
my target is a quick accelerating road car hence why i wanted to keep the short ratio box so i think come mapping day after driveing it i will be overall satisfied.
also id much rather have a 370-380 bhp car with very little lag than a 400+ bhp car with lag and a bit tricky to drive.after all it is just a daily use roadcar.
if there was too much power in such a light car it would be fairly rare that you would be able to use its full potential.
