radiator/over heating
Good evening Gents,
My radiator recently **** its pants, so I have fitted an alloy one bought second hand from pistonheads.
I was confused for ages that the car was pissing fluid from somewhere (would drive 20/30miles or so and the heat would start to creep up).
I have now realised it is coming from the coolant in pipe (there is a breather on the top)
I have now bled the car for ages, topping up and eventually both sides of the rad felt warm (only the drivers side was hot to kick off with.)
My heaters are now red hot inside the car which indicates that an airlock has gone, of is at least reduced. My brother has told me that an air lock might have meant the car was forcing fluid out throught he coolant breather pipe?
Have I done all I can now? I dont want the set off on a longer trip to find that it does it again! Do classic imprezas self bleed when cooling down?
Any tips greatly recieved as always,
The car is a '99 STI Type-R
Thanks in advance,
Rob
