Default 2004 WR1 or 2006 STI ppp?

Both around 50k miles and similar priced, both fsh and bog standard whats the better car?
Im guessing the WR1 will probably be the faster? And the newer sti will be comfier and probably more reliable?Or is there not much in it?

Nothing in it performance wise. You are talking about two cars both with 316 bhp, the Hawkeye weighing 25 Kg more. That equates to a difference of around 0.1 sec from 0-100. Two excellent cars.

2006 is the Hawkeye? If so better gearbox ratios, a better everyday car too. Engine good for 400/400 on standard internals, likewise the WR1 engine, but beyond this the 2.5s are unstable whereas the 2.0 WR1 engine will push more.

Personally though I would go with the 2.5 Hawkeye, as the WR1 needs to stay low miles to retain it value, but still a cracking car.

If I was you I would open the door to more options if your budget permits.

400 hp on a unbuilt chocaolate pistoned 2.5
Your brave rob
Most only publicly recommend the stronger 2 l newage sti engines for 400hp
I'd go wr1 but I like the colour and black interia too and last Scooby to actually be made to commemorate a wrc win quite important in my eyes
That's my 2 penith
Next ....

WR1 for sure - but a shame about the wishy-washy colour!

Have you considered an Evo 9/10, S3, S4/RS4, 335i/M3?

There's a few 2.5s that are running around 400 with similar torque. Arguably the 2.0 will do 400 at ease, some well in excess nearing 500 however that a separate subject

I love the muscle car type power delivery of the 2.5. Seems to have power all over the rev range without having to scream the knackers off it. imo its a great road car, just needs a few quid spending to upgrade pistons and studs if you want to tune it up.

Another hawkeye fan here too, though of the blob eyes, the WR1 would be my pick.

Cheers guys so the hawkeye will be a better handling car stock but apart from that very much the same?
Have been looking at evo 8 mr and evo 9s as well as m3s funnily enought not really into audis tbh.I pressume alot of people on here will have also had these cars and if so how does the scoob compare?
The scoob is certanily the value car in-terms of what you get for your money but i take it theres a reason?

to get big power out of a p1, most owners have newage parts fitted, though i stand to be corrected, think this applies to classics in general

Craigo, maybe he doesn't want a 13 year old car. With his budget is be looking at new age too.

Blobs and hawks look great with a couple of minor tweeks. Only mod a WR1 needs is a full respray

The hawkeye i was talking of has been sold and the wr1 owner has told me it has rust forming around the arches which has kind of put me off or is this normal?
Today i saw a couple of RB320s for sale and there not a crazy amount more for a more powerfull, newer and unique car im guessing this would be the best of the bunch so far and up there with the jdm?
