Default Newbie with a very odd Bugeye question!

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and new to Subaru too. I always fancied a bugeye and after the wife buggered off at the start of the year I finally bought one in February!

It's a blue WRX with an airfilter, exhaust back box, ecutek remap and blow off valve, other than those items it's a standard to look at.

Here's my odd question/problem:

On boost it leaks water out of the drivers side washer jet! I've taken the jets of to check for a crack and checked the lines and all seems fine. Also, the fabric bonnet cover thing is wet too.

I've googled the issue to death and can't seem to find anything so a friend told me to join the forum and ask the experts!!

Please help!

Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure its washer fluid and not coolant?

In all honesty I'm not 100% sure what it is. I guess I was just assuming it was washer fluid as it only leaks out of the washer jet. How would coolant get up there?

hi buddy there is a one way valve in the pipe work maybe that has failed allowing water to past through as when on boost the water is drawn out by the force, my own 98 did this with the rear washer jet (JDM) replaced the valve and it was fine

hope this helps

Do you have a picture? Is it headlight washer jet or bonnet washer jet. I dont think that boost would affect the washer pump system. More than likely a pin hole in a coolant pipe squirting out coolant when boosting (under pressure)

My rear one does it, and my bros' fq360 washers do it too, I think it would be worth sticking in a new one way valve as I assume the old ones get weak and allow water to pass too easily. You can get them off ebay for a few quid.

Hi D4VID, The coolant level has stayed solid and it leaks almost every time I drive it which is making me think its the washer fluid.

Thanks for all the advice, I've just ordered a one way valve that I'll stick on and see if it fixes it!

Thanks

i had this on mine after i detailed it. Was annoyed as after 1st drive there was water all down the bonnet !

I swapped the jets over and it stopped for a while , then the same side leaked even though it was the jet from the other side ! I fiddled about with the pipework and swapped the jets back over and its been fine since.

Definitely a weird one .

Hi All,

Just wanted to quickly say thank you. I grabbed a new one way valve from my parts department for a whopping £1.79 and it has done the job!

Thanks guys
