Up pipe?!?

Hi guys

When I brought my wrx the bloke I brought it off gave me an up pipe. He told me he purchased it and didn't fit it because his mechanic told him that it would decrease power

does anyone know anymore about this?

If the diameter of the up pipe is to big it will slow down the speed of flow to the Turbo therefore affecting spool up, this will make the engine very laggy.
