Cleaning (??) carpets in a classic?
Anyone done it?
These last couple of days, humid and warm, getting into the car, it has smelled of "old car".
OK, it's 14 years old this September, so what if I remove all the seats, and the carpets, have the seats valeted again, and either steam clean, or shampoo the carpets?
Do-able?
Or not?
Anyone done it and found the carpets dropped to bits, LOL?

I presume you'll be doing this in 3-4 weeks as per your instructions Jeff?
On topic, I'm sure Swisstony (Chris) removed some of his interior to Vax it with one of those Vax machines that pushes water/detergent so far down and then sucks it back up complete with mank?
TBH my seats need doing but after spending 3 hours hoovering my car and cleaning the dash etc. it smelt pretty good for 13

Likewise mine has started to smell a bit, I'm going to rent a 'rug doctor' from Morrisons and give the whole car a going over seats and carpets etc, pretty much all the fabrics..

If you are local to stockport you could use my George (wet vac), plus I have the odd chemical you could use as well
But less is more (you dont want to soak the carpet), so its spray on chemical, agitate with brush, remove with George.
This will clean and leave your carpets slightly damp rather than wet.
Other way is spray chemicals, agitate with brush, then with steamer head (wrap an MF around the head) wipe down as you steam.
Alot dryer but might take a few more hits.
