Does anyone have any fact-based info (including the source) on if and when a new shape Impreza is coming out?
I've got a friend in the industry who says that according to some "official reference book" there is no info on any new Impreza.
I am worried that the new shape will make the price and residuals of the current model drop like a stone...
I would very much appreciate any info as my brand new MY00 is due to arrive in March (and I guess it's not too late to refuse it and wait for the new one).

I too would like as much info in the new model - as I would like to get a replacement car straight away - it may be worth my while waiting for this new model.
Are there any specifications for this new model or is it all speculation?
Thanks.

If you look in Issue 38 (September 99) Page 12 you will see a small picture of a new Scooby which is not out for a few years yet. The picture is fake but Subaru say it's close but not as hard?
P.S. no, I haven't got a scanner

Hm... Interesting. Not sure what to do: wait for the new one or take the current shape and see what happens to the prices in 3 years?
I've been waiting for this MY00 for almost 6 months so can't even think of waiting any longer (I am counting days now to 1 March when it's ready to be collected!!!)
On the other hand what if the prices really drop - so I'll end up with 'negative equity' in 3 years (I'm buying it through Lease Purchase with 50% of the price due for payment after 3 years).
jjones - Have you figured it out, mate?

This picture appeared in the latest Modern Motor Magazine in Australia. Apart from the cosmetic changes to front and rear. There are flares guards which allow for a 15cm wider wheel tracking, 6-Speed gearbox, and suspension changes to rear wheels. Engine is the same as MY99/MY2000.
There is also going to be a new six cylinder engine available for the Liberty/Legacy (not WRX).

Wonder if the shape in dice's picture is a true representation or whether it is just test mule?
The front looks very similar to the current Impreza, although the back looks much higher.
I'm pretty sure that no matter what the next Impreza is like, the current model will be unaffected price-wise. It's the shape that that made the Impreza an icon, and the shape that will always be associated with McRae.
