Default knock sensor fault (classic)

hi, been getting engine check light with knock sensor coming up after car has been driven for about 30 mins - 1hr on my 97 uk turbo. ive read that replacing the sensor for a new one is the step to take but also that you have to take the intercooler off to get to it and that its not easy to get to and it needs to be torqued up when installed to, but 1st to buy the right one i need to match the right part number and as im not going to do the work i will get a mechanic to do it does anyone know the correct part number for the knock sensor i need (97-98 uk turbo) ?

Go on eBay mate, loads on there or maybe try one of the traders on here.

Bit of a pig to get to but nothing major, about half hours work. You don't need to torque it up either.

yeah had a look on ebay and seen a few covering 97-98 impreza turbo but they give a part number so wanted to make sure it was right or are they all the same for the correct age or model? is it a common fault and fixed by replacing the sensor or can it be other problems causing it like worn engine mounts?

but doesnt that mean i need to take off the intercooler to see it? i just want to know which one to buy to take to the mechanic and he will do the work as ive never taken the intercooler off and dont know how to do it, unless the mechanic will supply the part of course. just thought someone with a 97-98 uk turbo might of done a knock sensor change before and might know the part number...
