Whilst in Sunny Catalunya watching the WRC some greasy little spanish b***ard nicked the P1 badge off my boot. Dealer claims a replacement will cost the thick end of 60 quid. Can this be right or just a sad case of rip off Britain?

Cool

Simple.....take baseball bat to dealer and explain facts of life.He should then be very willing to assist in your anti-european campaign and probably give you the badge for free!!

Dave,

I do hope you've got your flameproof suit on. This *is* going to be fun.

OK, lads (and lasses) let him have it.

In motoring parlance I thought a breaker was someone who dismantled cars for parts.

Not someone who drove them for a few miles and broke them

You could say that many scoobs end up at a breaker as the pilot didn't brake 'er.

Yeah mate, but it's a limited edition boot badge.......

Why not nip round the back of one of all those unsold P1's and liberate one.....BTW, how many are still unsold???

Heheheheh this will get the thread off at a tangent

Should be free out of courtesy, as you've probably spent near £30 k on the beast. Customer service has a long way to go in this country.

It's not rip off Britain it's just our old friends Rip Off IM.

But, on the other hand how much it would cost to replace the badge on an Aston Martin/Ferrari or for that matter a TVR?

Buy a prestige car and wheather its tyres, servicing or badges nothing comes cheap.

P.S. If someones "procuring" a badge from unsold stock maybe they could get me some wheels

Just pray no rap band or similar start wearing the badge as a fashion icon.

Remember all the fuss with VW badges going AWOL cos of the Beastie Boys? (Get your Dad to tell you! )

Still, at least VW let us have a new (plastic) badge for free when it happened!

Why not just leave the badge off? Your car becomes less of a theft target and you'll surprise a few standard turbo owners. Does it really matter whether you have a badge on the back of your car - it'll still drive the same, right?

Know whats odd? The solid metal Mercedes star (the stick up one for front of bonnet) including the fancy spring mech.. is £8.50 from a Merc dealer. The rear badge is a rip-off at 85p.

Perhaps they sell them at cost price though since they tend to go walkies. Prodrive should do the same. :-)

Rob,

A white lie but I would try it, go to another dealer and explain the car is under warrenty and the badge fell off. Check if it's covered first

Rob, try Top Cat's option. I know it may sound pretty lame, but my S U B A R U lettering fell off after I used some hot soapy water (it was a cold day) on the car.

The glue on the lettering must have been pretty cr@p - so it is possible.

On the launch piccies of the P1, the rear badge was actually a stick on graphic, which in my opinion looked better.

Why not get a local sticker / sign company to make one up for you.
