Hi mate hope you are well, surprising the return in mpg you get even from modded scoobs, I managed an average of 31mpg in my 3.0R Outback returning from Scotland the other day and made it from West Glasgow to the Asda wallmart in Swindon 380miles in one tank with fuel to spare, was well chuffed with that.

Cheers Iain

This post means nothing without stating car model, any mods, type of driving. I'm guessing you used low to no boost n staying off the brakes as much as possible

I dont think it means nothing, it is an Impreza after all. In any case, for your viewing pleasure, its a bug wrx runing a vf35 with about 310bhp, I stuck at round 80 and the M6 was busy for about 30 miles only so as you guessed it, no brakes mostly.

Iain and DaveW, the drive was ok really, as I say 80mph, and got a tad lost round Glasgow (could have been dangerous!!). The last 20 miles or so to Loch Lomond were stunning, and I opened the car up a little.

I remember learning at school that due to the weight of glacial ice in the north the uk is sloping upwards from north to south - so you'll always average more fuel over a long distance from north to south regardless of what hills you drive up and down on both journeys

Just over 32mpg for me doing 240 miles last weekend to Donegal including some brisk driving on the way up. not bad for a self mapped 300+bhp wrx.
Should we make a club?

I have never seen 32mpg before, and I was rightly surprised for that very reason. That is why I made a post of it.

To the mods, if I am being wasteful with bandwidth with my post please feel free to remove it.

I averaged just over 34mpg when taking a trip from Scunthorpe to Lancashire and back which I was chuffed with Sat at 65 there and back like which was boring but it's a decent drive over the Pennines.

Why do you come back to comment? On a long lazy journey it is not imperative to average 17mpg is it?

It took about 1 hour longer than if I was doing 100mph all the way. Or would you Cain it all the way there with your wife and kids in the car?

Fill up, reset trip computer, fill again (when empty ish) + note mileage from trip ... you then know how many gallons used vs miles so can calc the mpg

TX.

Cheers fella
Seems like a long task and probably forget by then lol.
For 2 years now of owning my car I've never calculated mpg or miles on full tank. But it should be good as my mate with 450 vs my 301hp he had half a tank and I had more than 3/4 on a drive together.

If you got an I phone or Android get the "Fuel Log" app it does it all for you and you can keep an eye on your average mpg. Works well for me

Coz I can, got a problem with that? Its a public forum, you should know that by now.

Obviously not, that would be stupid, but trying to get 30+ each trip would send me into a deep coma each to their own.

Who is trying on every trip? I'm sure if you are a Le Mans 24hr driver you can gun it all the way to Scotland with no issues, as can MikeWR1, but I am but a mere mortal who would like to get to my destination with my wife, safely, and without popping into each and every service station on the way.

Crashing because Im giving it some would send me into a deep coma too. Sure you understand.

Oh, and Mike, if I went to a KIA garage, not even they would dare paint a car in as ghey a colour as the WR1!! (note the smiley thing which indicates you don't need to have a hissy fit! (oh and note the second smiley too))
