Default Claimed MPG

Subaru UK claiming 38.4mpg from an STI: http://subaru.co.uk/blog/exploding-the-subaru-mpg-myth/

Should have gone for that instead of the WRX as mine is clearly not quite as efficient...

38.4 seems a bit far fetched. I think my RB320 was said by subaru to give 32mpg. I get about 18mpg on average, maybe mid 20's on a long run. I must admit i do love boost so im sure there are plenty of peeps who bet better mpg than me.

I used to get 28mpg from my classic STI; the current 2.5 WRX is about 23 I think. As Chopperman says if you like boost you won't be far from the fuel station

You must be ragging it everywhere to be that low. That`s the sort of mpg I`d expect to see after a trackday!

when going to and from work and pottering around town i can only manage 210 max

my 03 sti @ 390 bhp

how do you guys do it.

My 97 import wagon auto does a mere 100 miles on 7.5 gallons with aprox 50 of them flat out. The book says something like 20 at its worst.
Do you think it needs a looking at.

STi Hatch & go up & down motorway to work - on average it's sitting at 29.4mpg. I drive it very casual but on sport sharp as anything else is annoying. You could get apprix 34mpg if on intelligent mode & casual cruising. If belting about area & on sport sharp start thing below 18mpg for sure.....

No. You need a manual car.

I love the auto for its 50mph 1st gear but miss the manual for the faster start line launches and better gear ratios when in the country side. Just looking to buy a third car at the moment and that's a manual.
cheers

Best i've got is 33.5 mpg out of a 2005 sti. That was just going to work taking it very easily, so about 10 seperate journeys, I can see how you'd get 38 driven in one go very economically with maximum hypermiling technique!

I always make it my mission to beat the 'extra urban' cycle of any car we own and thus far i've managed to do it!

I can get around 33mpg out of my WRX PPP, but i do lots of short journeys and taking it very easy keeping off boost and to the speed limits average around 25, then have a spirited drive for about 30 miles and it all goes out the window and get some where around 15/18 mpg per tank, my 5yr old loves boost so it's obligatory to give him a shot of it when i pick him up from the child minders every day when i'm in the uk. irresponsible i know, but it's a national speed limit road and i can't resist the look on his face and the sound he makes when i give it a bit.

I get 28mpg around town and on my trip to Wells got 34.5mpg on a 300 mile journey with a quarter tank to spare. I kept the wagon under 70 as much as possible!

Never had above 30mpg.

Average about 27 on 30minute dual carriage way journeys at 60-80.

Can anyone resist staying off boost for a whole journey? I found my car gets just as bad economy off boost as on boost. Maybe it needs a better map.
