unplug the crank sensor which is located under the alternator to get the oil pressure up just to be sure, has to be crank not cam as avcs cars still start and run when the cam sensor is unplugged

It's an Impreza - not a 250 GTO

If it were a Napier Deltic, then you should hand crank the engine a few revolutions first to ensure no hydrolocking from leaky gaskets or injectors.

But this is not a 1960's train engine. Its five year old Subaru

If it takes time to regain oil pressure you'll have a problem no matter how long its stood for ( for example, a cracked oil pickup tube sucking air).

PLease don't!!!!! As we all know Impreza engines are completely different and are made from antique Italian glass & will shatter with the slightest stress.

Just for my info can those people who think 2-3 weeks is too long to leave a car let me know what the safe limit is? Also does this apply to all cars?

do you see the airport car parks packed with AA vans trying to start up cars as the owners have been on holiday? Nope.

I wouldnt worry about it.

I think if you push the throttle pedal to the floor then the engine won't start. (Works on 06 STi). Saves you getting your hands dirty.

Yes. Full throttle whilst cranking usually stops fuel being injected on many fuel injected cars (not on post 2006 VWs though . )

Its a programed fuel cut to specifically clear a flooded engine of excess fuel.
