Default Burning Smell

Hi,

I've only had my car a couple of weeks (2001 WRX) and it's going for it's first checkover / service on Tuesday. I've never owned one before (but wanted one for years) so I'm paranoid it's going to go wrong! I'm sure I can smell slight burning from the radiator - not from inside the car but only from the air intake under the numberplate.

Is this symptomatic of anything?

Could be the rocker cover gasket is leaking oil onto the exhaust.

Common problem.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Serious common problem? The smell is only at the front of the car though - exhaust smells fine, well, as good as an exhaust gets!
