Default Sourcing new engine for 2002 STi - (2005 V9 Opinions)

Hi guys,

Im looking for a new engine for my 2002 V7 STi.

I've been offered a 2005 V9 STi engine, supplied and fitted as a complete unit (basically everything out / everything in as one lump including manifold, injectors, turbo etc etc - with a genuine cambelt done at the same time. No messing around).

What is the comparative spec for the V9 vs the original V7 STi unit?
Anything to look out for?

Many thanks,
Gallen.

Think it's AVCS so you may be into wiring/ecu issues.

No real difference from the outside. Should slot straight in. The pistons and some casting in the heads is slightly different. But will run just fine as a complete unit

2002/02 V7 Red Top should already have AVCS heads so shouldn't be any issues with that...

I've been told the heads are stronger on the V9's as they don't crack as often so sounds interesting!

Just wondered if anything else to look for.

Also considering KS3 Knock Meter and a set of Defi's (oil press/boost but what's the best 3rd option?)....and if anyone has any second hand for a newage pls email or PM me!

Cheers for replies too

G.
