Default break or send to auction

wel boys due to another HG fail i've had enough. what would be the best option for me in your opinions?
1 - send it to the auction house sold as seen and stick a reserve on it and pray for at least 1k.

2 - break it for parts and have the hassle of stripping and sending.

spec is 95 wrx wagon
-td05 16g
-pp chip
-walbro
-kyb shocks and eibach springs
-legacy wheels and new tyres
-3 inch system
-full silicone hose kit
-hks IK
-res delete pipe
-good g/b and diff
-decat up pipe
and all of the usual wrx stuff.

thanks for any forthcoming advice, cheers Pete

Buy an engine crane for around £120 off flea bay, take the engine out (around 3/4hrs for a first timer) have the heads checked and skimmed if required, bolt back on drop engine back in and away you go, put crane back on ebay.

You could do it for less than £250 over 2 weekends with the best gasket money can buy, and it WILL be a lot less hassel than breaking, as well as you being lucky to get £300 never mind £1k at auction, you would struggle to get that for a fully working car of that age at auction.

looking at the two options he gave and nothing else, the best option is to break it. but as said above, if you can break it, you may as well sort it. I think £300 is optimistic at auction, more like £200. plus fees...

see if you can find a garage share in your area, its not expensive and you may get help

Yep, i agree jamo hence the lucky part, i can see 6/800, if that, in parts that may or may not go quickly, then your left with a non rolling shell and a load of tosh thats available all over the internet for peanuts at the moment with so many cars being broken, add to that the hasstle of doing it, it's quite easy to fix with basic tools and a manwell off here, if your capable of breaking it, then you WILL be able to fix it.

Give it a go, you will be suprised how easy it is once you get started, damm sight easier than breaking.

breaking a car is easy thing to do, selling the parts isnt, all the good bits will go and you will be left with all the crap stuff and end up scraping it, talk to someone that has done it before, i have done and i can tell you its a pain if it can be fixed then do it IMHO.

well i still dont know what to do, i have an engine hoist so fixing wouldn't be a problem, its just had about 3k spent on it in the last year.
new engine, box, steering rack etc. just my luck an old hose from trhottle body burst and resulted in lost water, overheat and then hg fail.
perhaps im being too hasty but understandably im a tad pissed off.

lol, i know its not cool but surely the point of a vehicle auction is being sold as seen. a prospective buyer is only concerned with t & t at an auction??
granted i would never buy a car at an auction but surely people who go there realise they could be buying anything? meaning that the car would appear as though there is nothing wrong with it.
perhaps i may fix the hg but is there any point if it would get the same price at auction?
