Guys
Just a quick one and it may have been asked before.
Does oil run out of date? I have about 5l of Synthetic 5 40 left from my last scooby . Its in unopened bottles, the date on the back of the bottles is Dec 2009. I was going to use it in my 2003 sti (pretty standard) but dont want to use it if its past its best.
Any ideas?

Itll be fine. Oil itself will last decades perhaps centuries under the right conditions, it is the additives that will eventually begin to breakdown. Should be grand though.

 

You might find the date on it is when it was bottled?

The original crude has been getting better and better over thousands of years under the ground, a couple of years above it shouldn't really do any harm!
