heads cleaning for hg's ??

Default heads cleaning for hg's ??

Hiya there

I took my heads of and noticed the block and the heads have grey/black corrosion from the previous hg.. so the block i used light sand paper and took it back and got it all smooth round back to metal but the heads what should i do attemp to light sand them or has someone got better idea for me..

Sanding will be fine, 1500 grit or similar, And a sanding block. Best to have them skimmed really as they can warp slightly on removal.

180grit is fine, use with a little wd40

Wet & dry used wet gives the best finish. A skim is best but remember it will alter the compression ratio. To prevent this what ever amount is skimmed off will need to be added by using a thicker gasket. If your engineer is competent he will be able to tell you what gasket to use.
