Think yourself lucky it's not a VAG car, breakdowns would cost you that on top of servicing. I've just had to put a new clutch in the Fabia at £741, and now the Octavia is showing signs of turbo failure at potentially over £1k. In 3 years, the Scoob cost me for one O2 sensor at £60.

If I decide to go for it - It's an extra Grand for replacement front and rear skirts PLUS paint It's a bit difficult to sanction that spend when I'm gonna be earning shat all from mid may!

How many hours is the labour for, as that is a large labour bill. As for tyres £150 a corner is a lot. I bought top spec Goodyear GSD3s all round for £250, thats a LOT cheaper than you have been quoted.

I can buy tyres online for 101 vs Quenby quote of 168 per corner.
I need to pay 18 GBP fitting per corner on self bought but it is still a big saving!

The bill doesn't give time details - it was 312.25 GBP Assuming they started at 9am - I arrived at 4pm and it had "Just left to go for MOT" that is a max of 7 hours work which is 44.60 an hour - not unreasonable?

There is no way seven hours work! Three hours max if they're taking it easy. The tyres are very expensive. I got Goodyears for £100 a corner from Camskill. Shop around mate.

Its more like 4hrs @ £80 per hour.
If its a proper Subaru dealer thats pretty average.
On the other hand the parts are very competively priced, in fact i'm amazed, i know Subaru have been trying to reduce the parts prices for older models to keep them in the dealer network, i remember having a letter about it a while back.
I know of Jaguar dealers etc that depending on what model you have labour starts at £110 and goes up up and away if you have big sports model...

why should labour rates vary according to model?
is that how dealers work
for comparison
I had the torque converter replaced on my Landcruiser Amazon plus a few suspension bushes etc
And boy is that a big job, the whole gearbox (and transfer box) has to come out
It was done by a specialist, but my bill was 1k, including £350 for parts
Imo when your general yearly servicing costs (if done by a dealer) start to reach a 3rd of the value of your car, the economics just don’t stack up

I used to do all my own servicing once the Scoob was out of warranty. Probably the easiest car I've ever worked on, certainly compared to the VW crap.
