Default Question Regarding Simtek & My Engine??

Evening all,

have been thinking about the engine in my wrx v2 and am hoping someone can clear up a few questions i have.

firstly, the car has a simtek ecu fitted, it also has an air fuel ratio gauge but this doesnt seem to work, just goes up and down by itself.

have looked under the bonnet and looks like there is nothing connecting to where the maf is or should be,there is like a plug but nothing connected to it. could the car be running mafless?

secondly the car has a 2 stage boost, and it definately works.it has a small switch to control this, although i have no electronic boost controller.

does this mean that the ecu is controlling both sets of boost?is this achieved with a adjustable actuator?

sorry if i sound really dumb.but this has been bugging me now and id like to know whats what.

thanks in advance

cheeRS

simtek is mafless and also has twin map capability (two boost settings or two types of fuel etc.).

do a search on simtek and i'm sure you'll find lots of stuff.

k thanks for that, have looked and found a bit more info on the ecu.

also,if it was fitted sept last year will it be the old simtek or the new one??

guess il be tracing wires from the air fuel gauge then to see if its plugged into the ecu?
