Hi from a noob and quite a few questions :-)
I've just joined the forum and thought I'd say hi! I'm looking for advice as to which 09 STI to go for..I've seen a couple, 1 is standard with 29k miles and one has the PPP with 36k miles, both have full main dealer service history, both are a similar price...what would be the one to go for? Other than the engines eating themselves if they haven't been remapped, are there any other known issues? Does the PPP have any known issues? And lastly, what are peoples experience in the cost of insurance for the standard STI and the PPP equipped one?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forum!
Although I haven't got any experience with the hatchback (or the 2.5l engine), it would depend on what you intend on doing in the future as to which car to pick. AFAIK The PPP pack consists of a remap, harder inter cooler pipework, different suspension and exhaust (sports cat and back box). Obviously all these upgrades make an improvement over original, but if you are planning on modifying the car in the future the majority of this will be removed/replaced - I personally would go for the lower mileage example and get it remapped by a reputable tuner.
The PPP should not add too much more to your insurance premium (about 5-10%).

Have you driven a performance AWD drive car before. you need to be over 25 and have at least current years experience to go with a specialist and get a good price or you'll be paying over the odds for your premium in the first year..Once you with a specialist you'll probably find small mods/ppp doesn't make much difference.

Thanks for the responses...I'm not planning on modifying the car, so with that in mind, would the PPP equiped one be the best option to go for? I'm 38 and have owned some quick cars, RS6 being the quickest, but recently I've been driving a chelsea tractor and I'm bored of it now and fancy something small and nimble with enough power to keep me amused when the kids and wife aren't in the car. Hopefully I'll be an owner soon and will be lurking on the forums..Thanks again for the advice.
