The 1st generation of RS Focus are Pretty poor in comparison to the new one, I would say probably on a par with a Newage wrx, flame suit on

Have any of ou driven a Mk1 RS Focus?

Excellent cars with the LSD. A bit of left foot braking required to get it to hook up out of tighter corners and the power can be raised for not a lot of cash.

Built quality would be on par with the ****ty newage quality to be brutally honest.

I first test drove a MK2 RS Focus over a year ago and didnt like the vague steering but that was down to me having it on the lightest setting! Again it's a great car and if driven well is very rewarding with great build quality.

Instead of slating a car try driving it! Don't just go by what you hear on top gear or read in a mag!!! See passed the Subaru badge!!! There are alternatives!!!!!

Owned a Mk1 Focus RS (2930) and thought it was one of the best cars ive owned, The handling for a FWD car was brilliant and once rolling would give most Impreza's and Evos a run for there money. Mine was running 280bhp and 310lb/ft with stage 1 mods (filter, full decat, bluefin remap) and it felt scary quick.

They still look great today, and I would have another one in heart beat, But it would have to be a low mileage minter. My old Focus RS now has 370bhp and a full forged engine build now, So id love to have that one back now!!!

Here some pics of my old one!

As for slow ......go have a play in one there far from slow , mine was to aggressive

Good fun cars .....Wallace performance is selling a tasty one on the mlr

Totally agree they are very aggressive the way the power delivery comes in, which adds to the fun to be honest.

I do fancy a Mk1 Focus RS myself, have always liked them.
The LSD takes a little while to get used to though.

You are not going to get a decent Mk1 RS for £5k IMHO

Craigo, have you contemplated a project scoob? If you've sold your Type-R for near what you advertised it for you could have a nice 2.1 instead.

Have a mate who has a 420bhp bolt on kit. Sounds brilliant and sticks with my equally powered impreza untill it is wet at which point 4wd comes into play

We are looked too on RX8,but after some reports about the reliability we are bought Renault Megane Sport 225,which is enough 225bhp as standard,Brembo and 6speed is just bonus.

With 5k budget you can have R26,which have plus LSD,better seats(Recaro) and few other mods
