Default Sump guard or raise car?

I'm after a sump guard or some way to protect the under side of the car since the previous owner has lowered the car with shorter springs. The problem being one of my other hobbies means I tend to drive down farm tracks a lot and live in fear of damaging the engine but when you see prices like £200 upward I’m wandering if it would just be cheaper to put original springs back on the car to raise it which would change the handling I would of thought?

So anyone know where I can get cheap sump guard that won’t break the bank?

I`d put standard springs on (or coil overs as you can change the height), as a cheap sump guard would be as much use as a chocolate teapot really, as they`d be for show instead of use, and would offer little to no protection other than from puddles lol.

THREAD REVIVAL!
Well the cars been going well with the normal hight suspension but still ocationally get caught out on bumpy farm tracks so where is the chepest place to get sump & Diff guard from. They dont need to heavyweight since its only when moving slowly across un -even ground but some protection would be good.

I have an ally sump guard and tbh for what they are and cost your as well knocking one up from a sheet of steel or ally chequer plate, 4 holes in mine, 2 on front cross member and 2 on diff cradle i think.

IT would only offer sliding protection as if you hit a rock it will probably take the front cross member out.

So probably not worth fitted for driving gingerly up rutted farm tracks then since would have the front bumper off before it hit anything else?

Just found that but looks a bit bashed up?

Just depends how much it will cost to post since one cut from fabricator may be less?

Normal aluminium isnt any use. You need proper Dural, which isnt partucularly common or easy to work with. If youre going for a sump guard then Id suggest getting a tried and tested product from a firm who do it for a living.
