Default Fmic

Soooo whats the benefits of having a front mount intercooler on a classic turbo x plate. Im going upgrade a few mods

at present i have

z4 ecu
decat
exhaust system
panel filter

Possibly bigger turbo

none have been fitted as im gonna do the whole lot in one go and get it remapped.

Is it worthwhile doing a fmic

cheers

benefits = look cool
cools air better
loads of shiney bits

but are only really benifitial for 400+bhp cars and cause lag
with your mods i would go larger top mount

cheers

std black top mount will see 320hp sti tmic makes 350hp fmic come into there own above 350hp but obvisouly lower air temp but increase lag below 350hp try and find the smallest turbo for the power you want

a Z4 ECU will not fit that car! A bigger turbo and a late sti intercooler should do the job but you'll need to get a different ECU.

I never really thought of power wise. Dont you need to upgrade the box after 330bhp. Moneys not particuly the issue but thought it would make my car look nice

The gearbox will handle around 350bhp but to be honest a classic with that power is great fun For that you need a full exhaust system, VF35 or similar, a bugeye/blobeye sti intercooler or front mount and an ecutek

It's a hell of a lot cheaper! This time last year mine was roughly 310bhp and that didn't cost a lot to achieve, now at 420 it cost me a few quid and a lot of grief

Over 300bhp is good fun for not much cash, step over 350bhp and it gets expensive.

Mine is a 96 so it needed some 440cc injectors (you have those), apexi power FC ECU, apexi AVCR boost controller, ARC top mount intercooler, bigger MAF (Z32), walboro fuel pump and a full exhaust system. I didn't need the Z32 for that power but I knew I would for more power.

Don't forget that you may need a Q45 MAF if you max yours out and a fuel pump, it depends on how far you push it but you are limited to your 440cc injectors.

It's an sti and has mixture of bits. A 555 is basically the same as an sti v-limited but they aren't numbered and there were only 500 of them.

As far I know the only difference is that they aren't numbered I don't think the v-limited's have DCCD's so I find it hard to find any other differences. I thought the v-limited had a DCCD but the one I viewed a few months ago didn't so I think they are the same.
