Possibly the plastic end of the rad has cracked.

Hi mate
I had a similar problem on my Bug a couple of months ago, slight water leak under the car but temp remains fine. Turned out I needed a new radiator apparently it's a common fault for the top casing of the rad to split. Got a new one and it's job done all sorted, hope this helps 😉

Top hoses go on them and also the plastic side of the radiator cracks with age.

Is it an early classic or a later 98/99/00 one?
