Default Hawkeye STi - is mine the same as yours?

Obviously I love the car, but wondered about a few design oddities and if it's the same for all Hawkeyes

1) The bootlid is really heavy and you have to lower it down otherwise it slams and you'd think the spolier will come off. Strange as my old impreza had a tension spring in the boot that would take the strain.

2) Temp gauge. No matter how I driver, the needle always sits just below the half way point. On nearly every car I've owned, the temp gauge always settles at the half way point.

3) The steering wheel is really big, compared to other cars it's ginormous. Seems to be the case for all Imprezas.

Yes mate, mine is the same, apart from the sterering wheel. Mine is an STi. I know my old WRX had a huge steering wheel.

Don't know about the hawk eyes but on my blob eye I have exactly the same things. Remember first time I drove the car thinking the steering wheel is ridiculously large.

the bootlid should'nt be heavy.the sti has beefed up tensioners to cope with the weight of the spoiler.
sounds like you either have an aftermarket spoiler or wrx boot.
everything else is correct though

Is yours a spec d hawkeye in silver with black leather interior? These sti's had the wrx bootlid, smaller spoiler and weaker boot lid springs. If someone has fitted a larger sti spoiler and not changed the springs as tommy says above that could be the problem.

yes agreed this is why something is amiss on the boot either wrong boot or spoiler.

my sti boot doesnt slam and you can drop it from height and it wont even shut due to the strong spring and i have the original large spoiler fitted.

My hawkeye wrx temp gauge sits just under half way and doesn't budge at all. Completely normal.

The OE water temp gauges are far from accurate. They only seem to increase when you have an issue.
Pretty much the same with the oil pressure light, by the time it comes on its already game over.
