Default im new

evening ladies and gents, wasnt quite sure where to put this to be honest so sorry if its in the wrong place!

just thought id say hi really and tell you a bit about myself, im dave, live in the northants area and work for a cabinet maker/antique restorers company. i have a classic mini that i bought and restored for when i was 17, which i did, ran it for a few years and now its off the road again as im installing a metro turbo engine in it, had a few motors since thats been off the road but dying to get an impreza.
might sound sad but its my childhood dream of having one my friend bought one years ago when i was around 13-14 ( im now 23 ) and ever since then im besotted with them.. the sound they make is just epic.. annoyingly my sister and brother have/had one, my sisters got an sti wagon which she still has and my brother had a uk2000 one.. i turn into a small child in a sweet shop when i get in one but unfortunately due to insurance iv never been able to actually afford the insurance but as im slowly getting older im hoping my dream is getting nearer. so yeah thats me, currently on the lookout for a classic shape really.. depending on if i can get a good insurance quote.

thanks for reading

dave

Evening Dave, would be good to see some pics of the mini. My mate has built his 1983 mini van from the ground up, it literally started life as a back axle and shell in his garage. Its now running a metro turbo engine and he does the London to Brighton every year. Its been a very long build and I bet you and him could share a story or 2!

Welcome to SNet!

Hope you get the car you want but beware, insurance specialists won't touch you until you are 25 or you have owned a performance car for over a year.

Thanks guys for the comments. I hope I do aswell. I'm getting prices of about £1600 ATM from like generic places. Elephant came back at that aswell. Max I'd pay would probably be £1200. This might sound a bit stupid but which imprezas cost more to insure. I did hear uk ones were more due to them being cheaper to buy..?

Import/sti is likely to be more to insure than a UK car. I had higher quotes on an Sti than my UK one, sometimes up to £400 more.

Well it's typically;

Non-Turbo < Turbo 2000 < WRX < STI

That's not including the many many many variations you can get. Where Import versions usually cost more again.

Hi welcome to scoobynet. Try having a chat with Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels insurance on here, have a look in the insurance section. You may be able to get a quote from them.

Gary won't touch him as he's under 25.
