Default New to Impreza. Newbie Questions.

I have recently bought a year 2000 UK Impreza turbo wagon and since I don’t have a manual have a few questions about its bits.

Firstly what with all the wiper controls on the Rt hand leaver of the steering. What do they all do?

Secondly how do you easily remove the petrol cap and what’s with the odd flap inside which makes filling up a PIA and the narrow filler neck that you can’t easily get the pump in?

Thirdly what is the alarm horn meant to be attached to since mine seems to be sitting loose?

Don’t worry more odd question will follow when I come across something else.

wiper is off, intermediate, sweep, fast sweep...the thumbwheel dictates how fast the intermediate swipe is...obv press end to wash ...as for petrol cap, mines turns to left to remove,,no problems getting the pump in...just insert upto flap, the weight of the fuel pushes flap open!!

How do you reset the trip mileage?

I worked out the button on the dash switches between trip and total mileage but can’t work out how to reset the trip to zero when I fill up?

Another odd question but what should the tyre pressure be on standard 16" wheels for a UK turbo wagon. Since just looking at the tyres 3 the same 1 different and one directional one the wrong way.

Also where are the jacking points so I can change the directional the right way and torque setting for wheel nuts please?

Psi I'd say about 30 , as for jacking points I don't trust them use a trolly jack on chassis best way

Thanks for the advice so far but I have more questions.

Are these locking wheel nuts since one if different from the other 4?

Also what is the alarm meant to be attached to since mine isn’t attached to anything?

Tyre presure seems to be a bit hit and miss. I have put all 4 at 30psi but then looked at other pages that say 33Fr 32Rr or 34Fr 30Rr????

Why dont imprezas just have that handy tyre presure sticker you get on Toyota's in the drivers door?

Out of interest does the rear wiper/washer get fed from the same water tank in the front since it seems to be very low pressured and you get a weak squirt rather than a jet of water on the rear window when you clean it.

Is it common to have difficulty with 1st gear or Reverse synchromesh occasionally on a car with 116K on the clock?

The 1st gear keeps playing up when at the lights and won’t always go in so when they turn green you have to sometimes pull off in 2nd but then it is ok at the next set of lights?
With reverse it takes a couple of try’s to put it in gear when cold?

Out of interest worse case scenario how much is a gear box rebuilds on one of these or can you repair the synchromesh without a full box rebuild?

Seems the car is in a bit of a shape. Odd wheel nuts, broken alarm box, rear wash/wipe palying up and the gearbox seems a bit dodgey.

Second hand Boxes can be had cheap but try changing the oil first.

It had an oil change when given a full service a few days ago. Problem was the oil that came out was like treacle. Mind you it maybe playing up because of the cold weather since not as bad when it has been running a few miles and warmed up?

So basically if it gets worse or continues to play up it's cheaper to get a 2nd hand box than rebuild?

Another odd question.
I presume the chattering from the front wheels when turing slowly for example when parking is due to the AWD since when moving it dosnt do it only when turning slowly?
