Default Am I allowed....

To ask what garages people recommend? If not delete the post and apologies.

Just about to buy a V5 Sti wagon and looking to tune it to around 400 - 450 bhp. Still not 100% sure what route I'm going to go, whether to tune the standard engine, go 2.5 or go newage JDM. Probably going to go the newage JDM route with 6 speed as I want the car to be as reliable and driveable as possible. I plan on ringing round some garages tomorrow for ideas and quotes and it would be nice to have some recommendations from members of decent garages to speak to and maybe examples of similar work.

Cheers

James

Well, since the location in your profile is Barcelona, I'd suggest finding a Spanish forum, and try asking there.

However, since you don't type in broken English, how about you know, maybe in your OP, actually say where you're from? People could advise better then.

Stick with the 2.0l and stroke it to 2.1, get a twin scroll engine with AVCS heads, and the 6 speed you mention. Add a suitable turbo, injectors, exhaust and ECU and job done. Don't forget the brakes and suspension, though.

Scratch that, buy a newage - less hassle.

I live in Barcelona mate but I'm from near Leeds. I wouldn't even attempt to get the work done in Spain the garages are whack! they know nothing about tuning over here.

And choosing the brakes and suspension is the easy bit! deciding what route to go and who to build it is the hard bit.

Cheers

James (would be jaime if I were spanish )

Lol, the most nervous moments of my motoring life was booking in my old Ford Cougar to have the rear glass replaced when I lived in Ibiza. I was not disappointed, as soon as it rained water poured in. I had to go back over it with a silicon seal, there was no way I was letting them go back over it.

Then I had to get it serviced...

Hi James

Depends for what are you looking,if you are looking for full project build from scratch,i would recommend only Slowboy Racing,he done our wagon, which was before equipped with autobox and trust me lots of hassles and lots of delays, but at the end we have at moment 450bhp wagon(which has been featured in Total impreza) and hope so at Tuesday will be have 480-500bhp,if you are ask us if its worth, yes James

Here is our project

https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...s-project.html

And here are contact details

Good luck with your project

My personal choice would to give David at API a call, a true gent n will imo not over sell you something you don't need and will explain the pros and cons etc or I have not heard any bad stories about the guys at engine tuner, scoobyclinic as said above rich at fb tuning. oh and the guys at rcm but if you do I hope you have deep pockets lol, that's just to name a few but one thing I would suggest calling as many as you can as you will need to trust whoever you have it done by as you will be parting with your hard earned cash not anyone else's. Once you find that company you won't look back.

The irony being that E.M.M., in Marbella, is over 600 miles/10 hrs away from Barca!
