2.5 is fine as long as your not out to ring its neck.
A nice JDM blob STI is a safe bet though.

I don't track the car or drive it overly hard just the odd B road blast

I would like the 2.5 as of the tourqe from the engine is better than the 2L

I would be putting a full miltek and panel filter with a remap and leave it alone,

I've got an 06 hawk wrx with sensible mods - gets a good run out regular but no track days.. Have got 13 miles of perfect road on my doorstep so she get s used ;-) not abused...
360bhp and 430 ftlbs and she has never missed a beat - had 2ltrs before and do liek the extra grunt for the 2.5 in the end its personal choice. I love the Hawkeye look..

the 2.5 is fine if mapped safely, don't go above 1.3bar I have read, but 1.3 bar should get you 330-340bhp and heaps of torque,a chap posted a few day's ago and got 430lbft of torque from a hawk sti remap with an exhaust and air filter!

and when you want more, throw some forged pistons in it and take it to 500bhp!

Never at 1.3 bar though

My car runs 1.4-5 and I have had no issues, although it's not been driven of late as I have SORN it due to lack of interest

That's Gez's Black Hawk and yeah it went and looked well at Cadwell

go for the 2.5. My hawk is mapped at 1.3 bar and gets 334bhp and 381 lb/ft torque. Is a brlliant every day road car with the torque you get. Love it!

What supporting mods are you running? Exhaust etc

I'm collecting bits for my hawk, got a 3' milltek straight thru, 3 port, fuel pump, panel filter, new colder plugs and wondering what i'll get from a remap

VF48, 3" 200 cel mot friendly sports cat downpipe, 2.5" system after downpipe, k&n panel filter, prodrive 3 port, walbro, sti top mount intercooler and under tray. Few other bits but that's it really. Good luck!

There great figures

I'm thinking a full 3" miltek system, panel filter and map what sort of figers should I expect from a 2.5sti

I'd put a decent fuel pump on and a 3 port too, but should see 350bhp and 400 lb/ft torque no problem. Wouldn't go above 1.35bar boost to give the pistons a chance.
