simple job right ? ... WRONG ARRGH!
first things first , this post is gonna go on a bit as i have much to rant about ! ok here goes really not happy and dont think ive ever used foul language to this level before ?! but i had the simple task of putting my standard re-circ back on and remove the baileys one ! only i make such a complete nightmare of it ! why,oh why do subaru use that dodgy clip on the pipe at bottom of recirc ? that little clip has made my life a nightmare for 40 , yes 40 whole minutes !!! i had no room what so ever with the top mount up tight so removed bolts and pipe to throttle body so i could move it enough for more access . i then had to use pliers to loosen the push clip on the pipe so i could slip it on the valve , only there is not enough room for your hands to get in there !! just as i got the valve on the pipe and turned it round the right way it popped off then i dropped pliers in the engine bay !! suddenly before i know it its dark and i finally managed to get it on , only the pipe isnt on the dump valve as much as i would like it to be ! and my hands are ruined ! ive just washed all the dirt and grease etc off them only to find half a dozen cuts and scrapes and where i slipped with my pliers i punched the intercooler and i literally think i have broken my knuckle ! so basically i would like to take this oppurtunity to say ...................................*** you scooby ....................*** you !
ahhhhh thats off my chest
ahhhhh thats off my chest

You are not the only one who has days like that, bought a nice new tv stand other week should have taken 15 mins to put together but because one of the fixing rods had a bad thread ended up wasting nearly an hour.Never did get one simple bolt on so had to take back to shop.

If you've not drawn blood working on your car you've not tried hard enough
Every job I attempt always takes x10 longer than it should
The last challenge i under took was replacing the rear shocks...never have I had such stubbon bolts to undo...i've done a lot of suspension replacements over the years but the Impreza has been the toughest...a whole weekend, two cans of WD40 and an impact wrench was required

That clip actually locks open. If you take it off and lock it open slip on pipe. Push dump valve into pipe and use a screwdriver to release the clip. There is no need to be holding it open with pliers or anything else. Its a pretty cleverly designed clip

I have been swearing and shouting at my scoob a lot lately, mate.
You think dump valves are bad, try doing uppipe and turbo, on the drive, in the dark, on your own.
Seriously shredded knuckles.

Ouch, looks nasty...I normally have the odd scrapped knuckle if a spanner slips but not that bad or more often than not scratches on hands and arms from reaching in and catching it sharp edges.

Laying in a pool of sweat on the kitchen floor the mrs was pouring lemonade down my neck to stop me passing out, and it only turned out to be a little cut.
