You will need the rest of the PPP kit aswell. It would be worth getting a re-map as every car is different. The PPP kit is a generic re-map and if I remeber correctly there were a number of posts on here and SIDC about engines going pop.
Get your own ECU mapped either open source or Ecutek, use a trusted mapper look through posts on here to help find one convenient for you. If you have other mods planned look at doing them prior to the re-map to save on further mapping sessions.

As others have said, get a re-map from a respected mapper. You wont believe the difference it will make ! the ppp map is rubbish compared to an ecutek map , mapped for your car by a good mapper.

I used some PPP maps as a reference when I put together my own map and compared a number of maps from different model years in doing so.
Between the model years, the maps were near identical in terms of the actual figures in the map (timing, fueling, boost etc). However the ECUs do differ from one model year to another so you can't just flash a map from one version of and ECU to another but you can transfer the values from one map to another so it theory you could probably swap the ECU from one MY to another. If you do that though, there is a risk that it won't work and you'll have just wasted the money on the PPP ECU that could have gone towards a custom map plus you'll need to get your keys recoded to work with the new ECU (~£50 at a Subaru dealer).
The PPP map doesn't bring boost in as early as many mappers will set up in a custom map making it more docile at lower throttle openings and it doesn't push the boundaries of fueling and timing as much either hence doesn't make as much power as is ultimately possible. On the plus side though, it does allow you to still use 95 RON fuel if needed (e.g. no SUL at the petrol station).
Personally, I quite like the way the PPP map behaves on the road as it's a bit less frantic in traffic but still has plenty of pull when the roads are clear.

remap everytime.
ppp map takes into account emmision regs and is not purely for performance and not intended for a decat car.
remap will be custom for your mods, if you run ppp map with your mods to save a few quid you are nuts.
you could end up buying a new engine when it runs lean and pops

It shouldn't run lean on the stock or PPP map with the relatively minor modifications mentioned above.
However, a custom map is definitely the way forward in order to get the most from the individual engine plus the additional benefits from the K&N and Miltek too. Plus I doubt they'll be much saved by buying a PPP ECU and then getting the keys recoded compared to an open source map.
