Its a friend of a friend so I haven't got any info regarding location. Its an Alfa shes buying, not a Scoob.
Are there any companies that would bring the car back for her on a transporter? If so any idea what approximate costs would be?
Cheers,
Ian.

I imagine that there are companies who will do that for you (don't know of any) but the cheapest way has got to be going over yourself.
I took a return ferry from dover to Ostend got the dealer to deliver the car to the port on the back of a transporter, collected, straight onto the ferry back to dover and then drove home to portsmouth.
Getting the dealer to drop the car off at the port saved me needing transit plates in belgium and as they are not needed in the UK anymore when bringing home a new car it saved quite a few quid.
Return Dover to Ostend was around £100, they do a special deal for people importing, can upgrade to 1st class so that your car is first on, first off and not near any other cars in order to keep that imaculate paint work, imaculate

Definatly DIY. Depending on where you are starting and where in Belgium, consider getting a one way plane flight to Brussels (£19 by EasyJet if you're near Luton), then a train to the city (probably less than £10) and get the dealer to pick you up. Transit plates cost £20, but if you pre-register the car you can use your UK plates which makes the insurance easier. Then drive back to the UK via a ferry or the chunnel - again depends on where you are ending up.
All in all the most cost effective and fun way of doing it.

DIY is the best by far. Go eoither via the Channel Tunnel but buy your ticket over there via the net. Pick up an evening excursion to the Uk and you board after 8pm and the price is around £20 return...at that price who cares.
The other way is Hook Van Holland to Harwich. Tunnel is very fast whereas a sea crossing from Holland is around 4 hrs plus check in time.
