Default back from the heap

well after killing yet another engine on friday nite my days of owning a subaru was looking grim,i had lots of offers on the car and really did think about getting rid (one of them one was £1400) but i dont know how much these will go for with a knackerd engine so could have been a good one to take but today a life line was thrown my way. a really good mate of mine has decided he wants more then 500 bhp has offerd me his 2.1 stroker at what i think to be very very cheep and was built buy enginetuner so i know the history and the build quality will top notch so after a long chat im now going to keep the car and over the next 12 months try and build it up in to the car ive always dreamed of having. i feel really lucky as i had already started to collect bits like rcm headers simtec ecu and a td05 20g turbo, will be looking in to a bigger turbo at a later date now and try for the 500 myself. 2011 was a really **** year with my sister passing away 3 engines going pop ect ect but 2012 is looking so much better with the new car build + i should finish building a home for my soon to be family (lil boy due 25th march) all in all a very very happy man

good luck chap, just dont forget to factor 2k minimum for a gearbox if you're going 500bhp.

Thanks dan good luck with the job hunting as I know what a pig that is
Congrats on the lil girl l&g

Hamster I'm looking in to that one at the mo and are one of the most exspencive things I got to buy but the guy I'm getting the engine from is going to sell me his six speed at a later date as he is after a Jdm hawkeye 6 speed. Something about the ratios being similar to a 5 speed (he drag races alot lol)

yeah Steve, one of the biggest factors in going for big power is the gearbox. You can run up to 350bhp on a 5 speed and it will last if treated right but the next step up to 400+ requires a lot better box and budget.

Getting the power is fairly easy, been done time after time on here, but its the gearbox and brakes that are usually the bank breaker.
