Default How good are rb320s?

Having saw how much these have dropped in price lately they seem like a good buy or am i missing something??
Ive sold a 2003 sti and a 2004 sti with a ppp pack fitted before and got on ok with them although thought they understeered alot more than an evo especially in wet.
Is the rb320 a diff animal or just much the same but slightly faster?
Also any common problems with them or are they fairly trouble free?

Thanks in advance.

its a tweeked sti really but being limited edition with rb parts like seats etc worth a bit more than a standard sti.

suspension tweeks like geo set and arbs will stop understeer and the rb320 will have dccd unlike earlier stis you had

There the mutts nuts imo. Stunning to look at with some top draw parts. Mine is standard apart from panel filter and exhaust. Bob Rawle has just mapped it to 360/440 and its now an awesome road car. There rare and only getting more so. Future classic for sure.

360/440 is impressive, do you have a speed vs boost curve from it that you could share ?

Mighty impressive figures there mate.

Bob mapped my 2006 STI and managed to get 344bhp and 382lb.

Mods are:

-STI panel filter
-decatted mid pipe (standard downpipe)
-RCM fuel pump

Great stuff mate The good thing with Bobs map is not just the figures but the drivability. It seems to have power everywhere. Ticks over smooth and is even smoother when cold than it used to be.
Mine being an RB320 has a prodrive pump and 550-560cc? injectors as standard. Its still quite a fresh engine in mine as its only done 20k.

The RB is 30mm lower on the front and 10mm lower on the back than a std sti. It has Ebach springs and Bilstein shocks , also has Bilstein adjustable ARB so the car can be set up with no under steer.
Things to look out for.
Rear shocks . They suffered from the dreaded knock but unlike the sti bilstein re-worked the shocks to solve the problem. The rear shocks will have a sticker on them that says "3rd bearing re-worked". This shows they have the modified units. Most have had this done by now.

The other thing to look out for is to check it is a genuine RB and not a copy cat.Dont get me wrong, there are some great sti's that owners have given the RB treatment but if your paying for an RB you want a genuine one. There numbered on the Tax disc holder but to make sure check the service book. There numbered there too.
Factory extras were
Leather / Alcantara seats £1500 extra
Leather seats £1400 extra
Clarion Sound system £1500 extra
Window tints £400 extra
So bear this in mind when comparing prices.

Well for sure your do and exhaust will help, but I think the injectors are the same no?

Did you get flat shifting and auto blip as well?

I will stand corrected but i think the RB had larger injectors.
And yup i got auto blip on both maps but flat foot shifting and launch control on the race map only.
I forgot to mention i had a 3 port boost solenoid fitted at the same time. I don't think that give's any more power or torque though. To be honest im not sure what it does extra that the standard solenoid didn't?

Bob being the gent he is plumbed it in for me before mapping and spotted a little vac hose that was leaked so fixed that for me at no extra cost.
I was always impressed with my RB but i have to say im even more in love now.
