Default Car and Bike keys - Stolen..

Hi all,

Back here on SN after a while.
Came back home on friday evening to find my house broken into through rear bedroom window and find ground safe broken in the bedroom, taken both my car and bike spare keys (and all spare keys for anchor and chain for the bike) along with an expensive watch. They didn't touch iMac/DSLR etc.,also have not taken my bike chained in the garage

Police/insurance everyone involved and had to move my car and bike to two different friends place to be safe. Now I'm stuck in the village without transportation. All insurance firms are refusing to pay the bill for replacement keys and also have spoken to local dealers.

Whether its wise just getting the existing key reprogrammed temporarily or get replacement keys... appreciate any advice.

Cheers.

Crap news and its of no comfort, but apart from the watch at least nothing else of value has been stolen and no-one was in the house at the time.
I would get your keys re-programmed at the least and get everything else replaced asap.
Chances are, they will be back to try for your car and bike.
I don't understand why your home insurance is refusing to pay to cover the cost.
Consider a blackjax for the future,if you haven't already...

Thanks.

More bad luck, my card guard policy supports lost vehicle keys (only realised today) and now they are refusing to support as I've not informed them within 24 hours

Will speak with car/bike insurance again in the morning, looks like Christmas gifts have to wait

Best of luck and I'm sure If you push the trauma aspect of being burgled, they may renege on their decision and support your claim.

Not impressed with K M insurance (underwriters - Amlin) and they have now refused to pay for car keys to be replaced but BMW have agreed to pay for bike keys.

Been with KM for last four years and never had any claims for last 7 years, will be looking to change from KM

Rant over...

That'll be because key cover is sold as a separate bolt on.
