My prodrive back box is split and blowing...been told by the garage it could be fixed by welding, but as its stainless steel they dont have the correct kit to do it.....

Rang Mr tyre (Leicester) and been told they can fix it using a mig welder, however another place has said it better to use a tig welder?


Very confused....any ideas?

 

dont use mig best to use tig with stainless wire and you get a nicer weld.

Neilwrx - is mig out of the question? even if the split isnt the biggest?

you can use mig but it would need to have stainless wire because if they dont the weld will rust which would be pointless exercise try searching for engineering/sheetmetal companies most will do it for small fee.
